About Room 16

Room 16 is the main stream new entrant class at Kawakawa Primary. All the students are 5 years old and love coming to school and learning with Whaea Narelle, our kaiako. We are hands-on class that are learning to take responsibility for our learning and become our own teachers. We are discovering our learning skills through a process called learning through play. Room 16 become the best parents ever!

We were lucky enough to receive some caterpillars and eggs from Miss Bauer. We had enough for one caterpillar each so decided we would all become Mums and Dads of our new babies. This was helping us to learn to be responsible. We came up with some new class rules to make sure our babies had the best home to live in. We also gave our caterpillars a name. Raukura's caterpillar was called Spikey and Emily called hers Fluffy Cloth. Skylah-Rose called her Chocolate Melt Down. Tegan called hers Fluffy and Qwayde called his Stripey.
